The only gathering places in our community are the volunteer fire department and attached thrift store. Twice a year, the fire department organizes a farmers’ market and craft fair to raise money and encourage a sense of community. This year, our church grilled brats and hot dogs for the event. Our family sold honey from our bee hives. We were encouraged because we talked with many people throughout the day.
