The church board members and I have been going through the book Developing Leaders for the Small Church by Glenn Daman and watching the companion videos. It has opened the eyes of our whole board as to what is the responsibility of the church leadership. I proposed that each board member select four people in the congregation to take under their wings, so to speak. This is partly to take some pressure off me but also to help church leaders set the example in getting to know those in our congregation on a personal level. We want people to feel a part of this church so that they are encouraged to grow in their faith. My idea was a hit, and we are excited to see what comes of it!
